About The Crickettes
The Crickettes are an acoustic ukulele duo from Calgary, Canada, known for their inviting and intimate live performances. With Sara Tkachuk on vocals and baritone ukulele, and Julianne Clease on vocals and tenor ukulele, their performances feature a delightful mix of catchy original songs and beloved covers (and the occasional kazoo). Their songwriting reflects the ups and downs of life, the beauties of love, and imaginative narratives, encompassing moody instrumentation, ear-pleasing harmonies, and a unique sound.
Through an uncanny ability to beautifully harmonize and their shared love of artists like The Secret Sisters, Fleetwood Mac, and Reuban and the Dark, their "Crickette" sound was born. Since 2018, they have been performing at festivals, outdoor shows, market venues, special events, and mini-concerts. Recently, they have been building a repertoire of original songs, including a two-song EP titled “Tiny Dark Songs” recorded at OCL Studios in Langdon, Alberta. Their recent achievements include playing shows in Calgary at the King Eddy, gracing the Ironwood Stage, and crooning a large crowd at the Quinterra Stage Summer Series for the Prophets of Music Society. Their fall release of “Monster” and “Tying Tiny Knots” is just the beginning, showcasing their evolving sound. As they continue to explore new creative avenues, they invite listeners to join them on this exciting adventure filled with heartfelt storytelling and rich harmonies.
