About The Crickettes
As vocalists and multi-instrumentalists, we discovered our shared musical spark in 2018 through the simple joy of two ukuleles, a living room, and a wish list of songs we wanted to reimagine. What began as a creative experiment has grown into The Crickettes: a Calgary-based folk duo with a sound we affectionately call the “Crickette-sound”. Our live shows are spirited, playful, and deeply rooted in the belief that music doesn’t have to be serious to be stirring.
Over the years, we have built our career from the ground up, growing from intimate performances at Café Gravity to larger stages including the King Eddy, Ironwood Stage & Grill, and the 47th Annual Calgary Folk Music Festival. We have now performed more than 100 shows across Calgary and Alberta, continually expanding our audience through original songwriting, community connection, and engaging live performances. We were recently nominated for Folk Recording of the Year at the YYC Music Awards, marking an exciting milestone in our development as artists.
We are committed to creating space for female voices and innovation within Calgary’s music community. We have partnered with the Calgary Public Library to deliver children’s programming, facilitating more than 30 songwriting workshops and performances for young audiences. We believe strongly in the power of music to connect people, and we bring that belief into every venue we play, from cafés and patios to festivals, theatres, and packed listening rooms. We are proud of how far we have come, but we are even more excited about where we are going. We continue to write, record, perform, collaborate, and build meaningful connections with audiences across Alberta. At the heart of it all is the same thing that brought us together in 2018: a genuine love of making music and inviting people to be part of it.
